Mark Lane, author of Rush to Judgment, and Joan Mellen, author of A Farewell to Justice, talked about conspiracy theories surrounding the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Mr. Lane discussed the theory that the Secret Service was complicit in the assassination of the president, and Professor Mellen spoke about the prosecution of Clay Shaw by New Orleans District Attorney Jim Garrison. Mr. Shaw, a New Orleans businessman, was the only person ever prosecuted in connection with the assassination.

“The Secret Service and the Assassination of JFK” and “Clay Shaw Unmasked: The Garrison Case Corroborated” were presentations at “Passing the Torch: An International Symposium on the 50th Anniversary of the Assassination of President John F. Kennedy.” The event October 17-19, 2013, was the annual conference of the Cyril H. Wecht Institute of Forensic Science and Law at Duquesne University. close
