Indiana University professor James Madison talked about the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) of the 1920s, which was made up of white Protestants from different social economic levels that were drawn together by their disdain for Catholics, foreigners and cultural change. Professor Madison also explained how the KKK has had two additional distinct revivals, beginning with its origins after the Civil War as a southern organization made up of Confederate veterans fighting against reconstruction and full citizenship for African Americans, and the present Klan which he states is nothing more than a fringe hate group. close
