A panel discussion was held on relations with North Korea.

Former Assistant Secretary of State for East Asia Evans Revere said relations with North Korea might be heading toward a new phase after weeks of threats from the Kim regime. He said the North has followed a behavioral pattern over the years and that North Korean leaders would not be likely to use their nuclear weapons for offensive purposes, though he would not rule out the possibility of further nuclear and missile tests.

Panelists:

Evans Revere, Senior Director, Albright Stonebridge Group, Former Acting Assistant Secretary of State for East Asia and Pacific

Chang-gi Kim, Publisher / Executive Editor, Chosun Weekly

Jung-Chan Park, Former President, Yonhap News

Moderator: David Pong

“Prospects for U.S.-Korea Cooperation on North Korea” was the second panel of the forum “Assessing the U.S.-Korea Relationship: Looking Ahead” co-hosted by the Hanmi Club and the Korea Economic Institute of America. close
