Vali Nasr talked about his book, The Dispensable Nation: American Foreign Policy in Retreat, in which the he reveals that the foreign policy plan supported by late Ambassador Richard Holbrooke and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was overruled by President Obama for political reasons. Mr. Nasr argued that the conflict over U.S. policy in Afghanistan has weakened America’s ability to shape policy in South Asia and the Middle East. He spoke about his contentions with National Defense University professor and former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) adviser Judith Yaphe. close
