Congressional Budget Office Director Douglas Elmendorf used charts as he talked about the budget outlook. He said putting the federal debt on “a sustainable path will ultimately require increases in taxes or cuts in government benefits or services for people who consider themselves to be in the middle class.” Topics included the Simpson-Bowles commission and potential changes to the economy due to sequestration and the federal debt.
“Fiscal Policy Choices” was a presentation at the National Association for Business Economics (NABE) 2013 Economic Policy Conference held in the Washington Court Hotel.
