Historian Richard Norton Smith talked about the Titanic Memorial, on Washington, DC’s southwest waterfront. The memorial was erected by the Women’s Titanic Memorial Association. It is dedicated to the men who gave their lives so that women and children might survive the April 15, 1912 RMS Titanic disaster. The sculpture was designed by Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney, and the surrounding bench was designed by Henry Bacon. close
