Panelists talked about the civil war in Syria and the potential for the Assad regime to fall. The Institute for the Study of War’s Joseph Holliday said the fall of the Assad regime will not be a collapse but a slow decline today/Tuesday at a panel discussion on the future of Syria after Assad. He was joined in the discussion by the Stimson Center’s Mona Yacoubian. Both agreed that If the Assad Regime falls, it could lead to less stability in the region.

Syria’s civil war began as an uprising in March 2011 with peaceful protests but turned into a civil war after the government’s crackdown on dissent. close
