Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak conducted a joint press conference. Defense Minister Barak re-emphasized that Palestine’s decision to apply for statehood status in the United Nations was a mistake. Other topics included the recent Israeli-Gaza conflict and Iran’s nuclear program. He said that a military option would never be taken off the table. Secretary Panetta presented the soon to be retiring Minister Barak with a medal and picture.
