Several female members of the House Democratic Caucus defended U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice against accusations that she lied to the American people regarding the September 11, 2001, attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya. Incoming chair of the Congressional Black Caucus Marcia Fudge (D-OH) said that sexism and racism played a role in the charges that Senator John McCain and others leveled at Ambassador Rice.
