Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO) and Representative Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D-FL) spoke about gains for women in the 2012 elections. They noted that for the first time ever, there would be no all-male state legislatures, there would be 81 women in the House and 20 in the Senate, and that for the first time the majority in the Democratic Caucus would not be white males. Then panelists discussed the impact of women in the 2012 elections. A national public opinion research report by EMILY s List was released that provides an in-depth look at the issues that motivated women most at the polls. The panelists responded to questions from members of the audience. Dee Dee Myers moderated.
