Senator Kent Conrad (D-ND), chair of the Senate Budget Committee, talked about the “fiscal cliff,” the impending tax increases and budget cuts at the end of 2012 if Congress failed to reach a new budget agreement. He listed a number of options he believed could be part of a deficit reduction package, guessing that the final bill would contain about $5 trillion in savings, and saying it was conceivable that negotiations would break down, sending the country over the “fiscal cliff.” He was interviewed by John Bussey.
