Author William Souder talked about his book, On a Farther Shore: The Life and Legacy of Rachel Carson, in which he recounted the life of the biologist, who authored Silent Spring, a 1962 indictment of synthetic insecticides including DDT. Mr. Souder examined the affect the book had on environmental awareness.
