The 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom was on August 28, 1963. The march was organized to push for comprehensive civil rights including public school desegregation, voting rights protections, and a federal program to train and place unemployed workers. It was at this march that civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his “I Have a Dream” speech.
