Witnesses testified on the monthly jobs reports released by the Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics. The first panel focused on the methodology of the report’s release, in which news organizations and others are allowed to see the monthly jobs report half-an-hour ahead of time in what is known as a “lock-up” session at the Labor Department building. A second panel also focused on “green” jobs, with Chairman Darrell Issa accusing the Labor Department of inflating the numbers it had reported for that sector of the economy..
