President Obama spoke to troops serving in Afghanistan about their mission, service, plans to draw down troop levels and turn over the security of the country to Afghan forces. He told the service personnel that the “goal to defeat al-Qaida is within reach,” but cautioned that the road home would likely be hard and painful for many.
