Douglas Elliott talked about the number of ways the federal government provides grants and loan guarantees to private industries, and he responded to telephone calls and electronic communications. Mr. Elliott argues that when credit programs for housing, farm, business, and education are considered, the government lends approximately $10 trillion to the private industry.
