Matthew Briones briefly spoke about his book that reports on the life of Charles Kikuchi, a Japanese American who was sent to an internment camp alongside 100,000 other Japanese Americans following the bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1941. Mr. Kikuchi kept a journal throughout his life and that recalls his time in the camp, his enlistment in the U.S Army, and his later career as a social worker in New York City. Then Professor Briones spoke with Professor Cornel West about the history of racial relations and the upcoming 2012 elections. They responded to questions from members of the audience at Hue-Man Bookstore in New York City.
