Ben Bernanke spoke to George Washington University students about the origins and mission of the Federal Reserve. This was the first of four classes he taught at the school.

In his lecture he explained a financial panic by using the film It’s A Wonderful Life. Mr. Bernanke also defended the United States' break from the gold standard, saying it hurt the country during the Great Depression. close
