John Gomperts talked about Martin Luther King (MLK) Day as a national day of service by the Corporation for National Community Service, which includes AmeriCorps. He discussed the evolution of the holiday from a day off from work into a day of service to the community, the efforts of volunteers, as well as the overall work of AmeriCorps, and he responded to telephone calls and electronic communications.
