Ward Carroll

Ward Carroll talked about the Web site he edits, military.com. It provides news, information and support to current and former service members, their families, and non-militaryreaders. Topics included the workings of Defense Department procurement and the difficulty in canceling major weapons systems funding, citing the projected $25 million cost of the F-22 fighter jet as an example. He also talked about the actual total costs of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars in contrast to the amount former Defense Secretary Rumsfeld initially stated and the top defense contractors paid by the U.S. government in 2011.
