Secretary Panetta and General Dempsey testified on security issues in Iraq. Questions focused on the planned withdrawal of all U.S. military forces from Iraq, with several contentious exchanges between witnesses and members over leaving a small contingent of troops in Iraq. Other topics included continuation of limited counterterrorism training with Iraqi forces, as well as the implications of full troop withdrawal and Iranian influence in the region.
