Defense Secretary Leon Panetta talked about the Pentagon’s efforts to cut more than $450 billion dollars over the next ten years as mandated by the recent debt ceiling agreement. He warned against automatic spending cuts that would be triggered if Congress does not come up with additional cuts by the end of 2011. He said those automatic cuts would be wrong and catastrophic, both for the military and the country as a whole. close
