Lorraine Wollert talked about the performance of the Treasury Department's Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP), and she responded to telephone calls and electronic communications. The 2009 program, originally touted to help 3-4 million people from losing their homes to foreclosure, gives lenders financial assistance if they lower mortgage payments for those who qualify. Thus far, HAMP has helped just over 690,000 people.
