David Shepardson talked about the implementation of and politics behind the recent accord between the White House and automakers that would require fuel economy standards be raise to 54.5 miles per gallon by 2025 for all passenger cars and trucks built and sold in the United States. He also responded to telephone calls and electronic communications. Mr. Shepardson said that some of the ways the new standards will be reached is through more hybrids and electric vehicles.
