Congressional Budget Office Director Douglas Elmendorf said that the nation’s fiscal outlook was “daunting” unless lawmakers made significant policy changes. He also talked about long-term federal budget and debt outlook, as well as projections that the national debt could grow to the size of the annual output of the U.S. economy within 10 years.
