Government officials testified on privacy issues surrounding smartphones, tablets and other mobile technologies. They focused on reports revealing that Apple’s iPhones collected location data and stored it for up to a year, even when the location software was turned off. Apple officials had siad that the company fixed the problem with a software patch. Google had also faced scrutiny over reports that Android-based phones track the locations of users. close
