Robert Hirst, general editor of the Mark Twain Project at the University of California, Berkeley, recounts the recent publication of The Autobiography of Mark Twain, Volume One published 100 years after the author’s death. Mr. Hirst described the work involved in preparing the book for publication, gave his thoughts on its success, and responded to the criticism the book has received. After his slide-filled presentation, Mr. Hirst responded to questions submitted by members of the audience.
