Federal regulators and financial experts testified on new rules governing financial derivatives put in place by the Dodd-Frank Financial Regulation Law. Several Democrats on the committee criticized Republicans for attempting to cut the budgets of Wall Street regulators despite their increased workload following the passage of last year’s financial regulation law. The regulators tried to assure corporate executives that new regulations would focus on the financial industry, not other commercial companies.
