Military branch chiefs testified on the results of the Department of Defense survey on repeal of the military "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy banning service by openly gay and lesbian personnel. Service chiefs gave their personal and professional opinions of the policy and the potential impact of repeal. Among the topics they addressed were readiness and unit cohesion, levels of support for repeal among the military services, and the process for repeal.
