Daniel Oldfather testified at the U.S. Coast Guard and Bureau of Energy Management joint investigation of the April 20, 2010, Deepwater Horizon oil rig explosion in the Gulf of Mexico. He focused on the installation of centralizers, and disputed BP’s assertion that it would take 10 hours to install the equipment. He arrived 4 days before the explosion to install the additional equipment designed to prevent gas flow problems, but was told the job was canceled. 
This hearing was the fourth day of the fifth session of hearings of the Deepwater Horizon joint investigation.
