Robert McKechnie testified at the U.S. Coast Guard and Bureau of Energy Management joint investigation of the April 20, 2010, Deepwater Horizon oil rig explosion in the Gulf of Mexico. He said that water alone could not have put out the fire on the Deepwater Horizon, but could have given sub-sea engineers more time to control the well. He said that the purpose of the water was to maintain the integrity of the rig.
This hearing was the second day of the fifth session of hearings of the Deepwater Horizon joint investigation.
