President Obama spoke about community college education and his vision for the U.S. to lead the world in college degree recipients by the year 2020. Jill Biden introduced President Obama at the first-ever White House summit on community colleges. She is Vice President Biden’s wife and an English professor at Northern Virginia Community College. Following the president’s remarks, Melinda Gates talked about the new $35 million Gates Foundation program, called “Completion by Design,” to help boost community college graduation rates. close
