Officials testified about a government investigation of passport fraud conducted by the Government Accountability Office. The report found that despite security overhauls since the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, the State Department’s system for issuing passports remained vulnerable to fraud. They also testified about further efforts to prevent fraud such as implementing facial recognition technology. close
