Sixty years after the start of the Korean War, newly declassified documents relating to the Korean War and North Korea during the Cold War were released. Retired Major General Singlaub made opening remarks. Panelists made remarks on the lapse in intelligence leading up to the outbreak of the war in Korea. After After the presentations, the panelists responded to questions from members of the audience. Deputy Director Clement made closing remarks on the current challenges in intelligence.
“Baptism by Fire: CIA Analysis of the Korean War” was a program held in the Harry S. Truman Library and Museum Auditorium in Independence, Missouri, co-sponsored by the CIA and Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars.
