Army Secretary John McHugh and Lieutenant General Whitcomb spoke to reporters about the findings of a review of operations and management at Arlington National Cemetery. The review found that several hundred graves were misidentified or mislocated, including those of troops from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The investigation cited missing burial records, unmarked graves and burial urns put in a spillage pile, where dirt dug up for gravesites was left. They said that cemetery Superintendent John C. Metzler was reprimanded, and his deputy, Thurman Higginbotham, was temporarily removed pending further review. close
