Admiral Thad Allen and Jane Lubchenko briefed reporters on the latest news in the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. Thad Allen said that in the past 24 hours 14,842 barrels of oil have been diverted to oil containment ships in the Gulf. He also stated that over 2,600 local boat vessels have been hired to help in the cleanup effort.
