Mel Marmer, a baseball historian, gave a multimedia presentation tracing the relationship between America’s highest office and America’s favorite pastime, from President Harrison to President Obama. Topics included presidents throwing out first pitches and the “Green Light Letter” from President Franklin Roosevelt to the baseball commissioner giving baseball permission to proceed in 1942 and expressing the value of baseball in time of war.
