Executives from BP, Halliburton, Cameron, and Transocean testified on their roles in the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. Questions and testimony focused on equipment failures, regulatory oversight, and the causes of the accident on the Deepwater Horizon that led to the oil spill. Several members were highly critical of company engineering practices and equipment modifications made prior to the accident.
