Witnesses testified on the role of credit rating agencies in the financial crisis, using as case histories the credit rating agencies of Standard & Poor's and Moody's. Former credit rating industry executives said that competitive pressures, financial awards and poor internal controls led analysts to award high ratings to risky investments.
This hearing was the third of a series of hearings the subcommittee held on Wall Street and the 2008 financial crisis.
