David Shenk argues that our genes play a smaller role in shaping how smart we are than was previously believed.  He says that our upbringing and the opportunities we have - or don't have - play a more significant role than the genes we are born with in determining how successful we are.  Mr. Shenk spoke at the New York Public Library.
