Shelia Bair, Chairman Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, opened a conference of business economists and spoke about proposed finance regulatory reform. She was followed by a panel discussion on the 2010 midterm elections and the economy. After the panel discussion Douglas Elmendorf spoke about the national debt and ways to reduce the debt.
