The middle school section first prize-winning video, Childhood Obesity: A Challenge Facing America, was produced by Matthew Shimura, a 7th grade student from Punahou School in Honolulu, Hawaii.

C-SPAN Classroom's StudentCam video documentary contest was a national competition in which middle and high school students produced a documentary focusing on one of the country's strengths or a challenge the country is facing. The local cable company was Time Warner Cable.
