One of the middle school section second prize-winning videos, Education: A Challenge, was produced by Nicholas LaVoy, an 8th grade student from Independent Day School in Tampa, Florida.

C-SPAN Classroom's StudentCam video documentary contest was a national competition in which middle and high school students produced a documentary focusing on one of the country's strengths or a challenge the country is facing. The local cable company was Bright House Networks.
