One of the middle school section second prize-winning videos, Wasting Waste, was produced by Carl Colglazier, a 7th grade student from Trinity Academy (Homeschool) in Cary, North Carolina.

C-SPAN Classroom's StudentCam video documentary contest was a national competition in which middle and high school students produced a documentary focusing on one of the country's strengths or a challenge the country is facing. The local cable company was Time Warner Cable.
