Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and Attorney General Eric Holder spoke at anti-fraud health care summit. Attorney General Holder said an estimated $60 billion are lost each year to health care fraud. Following their remarks officials spoke about ways to eliminate fraud, waste and abuse in the U.S. health care system.
The event was part of the Health Care Fraud Prevention and Enforcement Action Team (HEAT), which was started in May 2009. This all-day session was a first of its kind between law enforcement and the private and public sectors. The summit focused on sharing best practices and experience to develop new ways to eliminate health care fraud.
