Kenneth Weinstein talked about the book, The Essential Herman Kahn: In Defense of Thinking (Lexington Books; April 28, 2009), that he co-edited with Paul Dragos Aligica. He was joined by Gary Schmitt in a discussion about the life and work of Cold War strategist Herman Kahn. Mr. Kahn, believed to be one of the models for Stanley Kubrick's "Dr. Strangelove," worked at the RAND Corporation before co-founding the Hudson Institute in 1961. He was the author of several books, including On Thermonuclear War and On Escalation.
"'Dr. Strangelove' Speaks to Today's Strategists: A Book Discussion of The Essential Herman Kahn" was a program at noon December 14, 2009, at the Hudson Institute.
