Ali Eteraz talked about his book Children of Dust: A Memoir of Pakistan (HarperOne; October 13, 2009). He read passages and then was interviewed by Professor Singh. He talked about growing up in Pakistan and the American “Bible Belt” and his spiritual journey. He also responded to questions from members of the audience.

Mr. Eteraz was educated in a Pakistani madrassa and later moved to Alabama and several other U.S. states. He eventually returned to Pakistan but was forced to leave after fundamentalists there accused him of working for the CIA. Ali Eteraz, a freelance journalist, is a contributor to The Guardian (London) and Dawn, Pakistan’s largest English language newspaper.

The Council for the Advancement of Muslim Professionals held this event Tuesday, November 17, 2009, at 6 p.m. at the Brandywine Workshop, close
