Josh Neufeld talked about his book A.D. - New Orleans After the Deluge (Pantheon; August 18, 2009). The non-fiction comic presents an illustrated account of the affects of Hurricane Katrina on New Orleans' disparate population. Following seven people from the owner of an uptown family market to a doctor in the French Quarter and the son of a pastor who resides east of the city, Mr. Neufeld recounted how each of them endured the storm. In an illustrated talk Mr. Neufeld talked about the history of the project, which had an incarnation as a webcomic, and the people he found to represent New Orleans. Mr. Neufeld responded to questions from members of the audience.

Josh Neufeld is the author of A Few Perfect Hours (and Other Stories from Southeast Asia and Central Europe) and Katrina Came Calling. He is an artist for Harvey Pekar’s American Splendor. Following Hurricane Katrina, Mr. Neufeld spent three weeks as a volunteer for the American Red Cross in Biloxi, Mississippi. close
