Steven Hayward talked about his book The Age of Reagan: The Conservative Counterrevolution, 1980-1989 (Crown Forum; August 25, 2009). This second volume on the political career of President Ronald Reagan covers his presidency. Mr. Heyward recalls President Reagan's public and foreign policy decisions and the former presidents internal disputes with Republican party stalwarts as well as opposition from Democrats, and assesses how Reagan changed both parties. After his presentation he was joined in a discussion of Reagan's successes and failures as president and his efforts to restore the constitutional limits on American government.
The panelists also responded to questions from members of the audience. John Samples moderated.
Steven Hayward is the author of several other books, including Churchill on Leadership. He is a senior fellow at the Pacific Research Institute and fellow at the American Enterprise Institute.
