Former Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean talked about his book Howard Dean’s Prescription for Real Healthcare Reform: How We Can Achieve Affordable Medical Care for Every American and Make Our Jobs Safer (Chelsea Green Publishing; July 15, 2009). A former practicing physician, former Governor Dean advocates a public health insurance option, arguing that the private health insurance industry operates more like the Wall Street firms that precipitated the financial crisis than like part of a health care system. He also examines the disadvantage that American businesses operate under competing with businesses in countries with national health care. He also responded to questions from members of the audience.
